To remove the chart from the right-hand side, you can click on the spanner icon next to the pick list to open the Advanced Charts editor. From there, you can unselect the 'Show Area' box for the chart you wish to remove. This will hide the chart from your display. If you want to completely detach it, you can also double-click on the chart window to detach it and then close it.
