Broadband downgrade

I’ve been reading old threads about Bet Angel and broadband. The general feeling seems to be that latency is more important than raw speed.

I’m currently on 250 Mbps with Virgin. Thinking about cutting back to 125 Mbps and wondering if I’d notice any difference? I use Trader, so I only have one market open at a time. Has anyone cut back on internet speed in a similar fashion?

My contract expires in six weeks. This is less about the tenner I could save on the bill and more about being able to set up a new contract via the Virgin website with a single click, thus avoiding the tedious renegotiation ritual.

I noticed no difference re BF when they upped mine from 50 to 250+ a long time ago, but Youtube videos did load noticeably faster. I'm also planning going back down in a few days. Higher might be useful for HD videos, streaming etc. but 125 should generally be fine anyway.

"But Betfair also cache data now no matter how fast your ping is above a certain speed it will just return stale data."
