The value bet was laying City for the title at 1.74 when they were down to 10 men. They are out to 1.9 now.

Jeff,
I've told you before - I'm not tying my money up for months at a time.
By the way I bet on Basel at 6.8 - easy money. Traded out at 1-0.

Have you never heard the saying "When the going gets tough, the tough get going" - That's Chelsea in December...Euler wrote:I don't think Chelsea have the depth to pull of a title this year.
Plus, without the dodgy refereeing decisions at Old Trafford, Loftus Road etc they may already be top.
Anybody else who doesn't believe - check the stats on the BBC website Chelsea 2-1 Man City
Give over!

Without dodgy refereeing decisions, Man U would be level with City on points, and behind only on goal difference...

Jeff,
If that happened to Rio tonight (handball) he would have protested his innocence on twitter before the penalty was even taken. What I like about Man City is their honesty.

Hi Paul
In some sports, players openly admit to their fouls. In snooker, a pro would probably put his hands up if his cue accidentally touched a non-white ball and the referee didn't get a clear view, for example.
But in football, players almost never own up (at least during the match), and they think nothing of writhing in agony on the ground when they get a slight knock! Unfortunately, it's part of the game, and City are as guilty as the next club...

Why? He clearly handled the ball, just like Rio clearly brought down Hatem Ben Arfa against Newcastle. He got the ball but felled the player - it was obvious. But, he didn't want to admit it.
When are the referees going to send off players who protest when they are clearly guilty. They all think it's part of the game - but it's not. Watch games from forty years ago and you will see it's a NEW phenomenon.
And what's worse is that Manchester United have been the most guilty in my eyes. Surrounding the referee etc etc.... It's appalling.

I think the Rio penalty against Newcastle is a bad example - Ferdinand said he played the ball which he did. nobody is disputing there was contact with the player after he had won the ball but I, and most people it seems, think that it should not have been a penalty. The referee saw it differently and although I think he made a mistake it wasn't the worst decision I have ever seen.
The Silva incident lasr night again splits opinion. I think what went against him is that he made such a meal of it. Yes, there was contact but equally he could have stayed on his feet and got a shot away. I think there needs to be a clear edict from the FA that if players exagerate contact then the referee will give the benefit of the doubt to the defender.
There are far too many penalties given these days imo where there is slight contact but the forward is looking for it and goes down at the slightest touch even though they could easily have ridden the challenge. It's meant to be a contact sport and the way we are going it will soon not be possible to make a tackle.

Man Utd need to take the pressure off Wayne Rooney says Paul Ince - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16171939.stm
What has Paul Ince been smoking?
We don't need more strikers! Hernandez has been brilliant since arriving last year - he's like a young Michael Owen. And Berbatov was the joint highest scorer in the Premiership last season, even though he hardly ever left the bench!
As for buying Modric or Iniesta, I'm sure they're well within City's price range and their transfer fee would be pocket change to Abramovic, but they might be a bit expensive for Man U!

Are they still your favourites Paul?
1 Man City 16 35 41
2 Man Utd 16 23 39
3 Tottenham 15 13 34
4 Chelsea 16 15 32
Despite a shaky start to the season, Man U are just two points off City. I wonder if Fergie ever gets bored of proving the nay-sayers wrong!

I think with United's crippling injury problems the prices are probaby realistic.
Another injury in midfield and you'd be looking at throwing Morrison or Pogba into the fray and neither are ready (and tbh I'm not sure they ever will be unfortunately).
As it is Ferguson is already going to have to play Park and a 38 yo Giggs in the centre which is hardly a great prospect.
