I just stumbled onsomething as I was changing my page set up on BA. Fr some reason i changed the page from my own set up to the basic factory default which I recall has cross matching turned on. My personal setting have it turned off. There is a significant difference in the amount of money waiting to be matched in both columns.

Now I have read the Betfair explanation of x matching and to be honest it was a bit overwhelming. What I really want to know is where is my true position in the queue is? There is more money waiting with x maching on. Can someone please explain to me why this is.

I include screenshots and you can also see that this is a good 90 minues before KO.

Cheers

m

Nobody has a reply? Makes me think I am missing something really obvious here. Apologies if i am being impatient.

It depends who joined the queue first. Just because you are the only real money at that price doesn't mean you will get matched before it. It depends when both orders hit the market. The one with the lowest bet reference ID will get matched first, even if it isn't 'there' if you understand what I am saying.

Peter, what about if the 'unreal' is cross matched from several different stakes at different selections, some arriving before your stake and some after?

It matches whichever arrived first by bet ID. Or that is supposed to be what happened and this was what we saw when we tested. You can never be quite comfortable though as Betfair don't publish or expose the cross matching in a transparent manner. Or tell you when it is active or inactive.

1. It matches your bet on the rest of the book if the odds you ask for are not available or can be 'improved'.

2. Betfair said to improve liquidity, but it turned out they kept the spare pennies when the maths didn't quite work out.

3. Betfair ;)
