problem opening spreadsheet

hi everyone

im trying to open excel multiple spreadsheet to connect to betangel when i click on open workbook i get an error message which goes like this

unable to open excel -retrieving the com class factory for compnent with
clsid (00024500-0000-0000-c0001-000000000046)
failed due to following error 80040154
i have betangel on both ;laptop and desktop computers
i can open laptop and connect fine no problems at all its my desktop which is causing the problem ....its a brand new desktop and im pulling my hair out any ideas anyone ???

I think that error means it cannot find a full, local install of Excel.

Make sure you are not using a lite version or the 'cloud' virtual install version. You need to install Excel on your local hard disk for it to work.

i was beginning to go down those lines myself after many hours of messing around , as i have exactly same set up on laptop and that works fine
