I've been told that Mark Hughes as the next QPR manager is a done deal.

You can get 1.68 at present on Betfair.

Seems a bit strong that a man who gets a team promoted to the premier league then gets the sack 3 months later, I think he should at least get a year in the top flight and if relegated a year to get them back up, its such a big step from the championship to the premiership.

I'm not his biggest fan (Warnock) but he was good entertainment value for his interviews alone.

When you say you've been told, do you mean by people in the know?

There are no certainties in anything Jeff, but a nod is often a good point to start. I guess QPR spoke to a couple of people before they gave Warnock the push and Hughes was up there. But he would still need to agree personal terms. Apparently he is in London today to meet with QPR. I think this was a harsh sacking, especially when you look at who else has managed to retain their jobs in the EPL despite performances.

I've supported QPR for 40+ years and this is a strange situation for me. I really liked Warnock's passion and he did so well to get us up from the Championship.

I also respect Tony Fernandes and only time will tell if he made the correct decision. He couldn't let them get relegated because escaping from the Championship is so difficult.

Our recent form has been poor but we have also been on the end of some truly appalling decisions and bad luck. Sadly Neil Warnock will not be given time to let the bad luck even out.

AFAIK Mark Hughes actually lives in London so it could be perfect for him. I know that Fernandes was a boyhood West Ham fan and he wanted to buy them. He was pipped by Gould and Sullivan so perhaps Zola might have a squeak?

Hasn't there been a preference for Italian manager before at QPR?

Yes, but that was when Tango and Cash were in charge. Thankfully they have gone!
