Free multiple AV engine virus checking

Hi to all

After helping Galilee66 with his f.lux download I thought it would be helpful to post this information for other users.

Some Anti-virus software can give false positives and stop the installation of software that is completely safe. Obviously some AV software is better than others but I know that everyone has their preference. As a rule of thumb, if you stay away from McAfee or Norton you will be okay. The two mentioned are simply too bloated for my liking and they consume your system resources. Just my opinion!

If you are ever unsure about a file or a website then visit Virus Total and submit the file or the URL. This site will then scan your submission with multiple AV engines and submit a report. You can then read comments from other users and make a much better judgement as to the safety of your file/URL.
