Looks like Wetherby abandoned due to frozen track..
I must say though; we have done well this year (so far!) for abandoned meetings..

Sporting Life has Wetherby going ahead and Warwick abandoned. Dooohh

Kempton has a 10am inspection but will probably go ahead.

Kempton inspects at 10am. Very cold here at the moment. I reckon it will be OK when the sun gets up, but I reckon they will inspect again at 11am, still too cold and ground covered in frost at the moment.

Kempton had the good sense to cover the track yesterday. However, it takes, according to the Clerk of the course, 2 hrs. to remove the covers - which they can't do until the temp rises above zero degrees. So, if they inspect at 11am, racing can't go ahead until 1pm at the earliest. This means that the first race, due off at 12:30, won't get off on time.

Still late-off racing is better than no racing at all and well done to Kempton.

Sporting Life still showing Warwick abandoned - wallies.

Kempton inspect again at 11am. I've had a few quid on Kempton to go ahead, when the sun is up it will be fine. Sun is getting higher and the frost is shifting. We are down to the vagaries of the course now. It's not very deep into the ground at all.

If only they had had the good sense to cover the course yesterday!

They covered up the take off and landing areas and I think the bypass areas. The rest of the course was left exposed to the frost as they didn't expect it to get so cold.

Had they covered the whole course there would be no issues with racing and they could have started to take the covers off by now and got racing off on time.

They should have no issues taking of the few covers they put down in time for their scheduled off time for the first.

My apologies, Andy.

I saw a snippet of the Morning Line on Channel 4 this morning. All I saw was Kempton and covers and assumed that they had covered the whole course, especially when the Clerk mentioned that it would take 2 hrs to take the covers off.

Sounds as if I got it wrong.

You were correct about covers and the time - just they were on about a different course to Kempton, they were talking about Warwick - you would have seen Derek Thompson talking about them.

Well, it just gets worse. I got the track bl00dy well wrong as well. I ask you. Talk about egg and face. That will learn me (as they say in parts of Northants.) not to pop in and out whilst watching a TV program. What a plonka. Maybe I'm going saline. Maybe I should give today a miss?
