Hi Stef

Let's say you use a system when trading. That system might be as simple as 'When X happens, do Y', ie very precise and mathematical, no ambiguity.

Or a system could be discretionary, and just mean a set of approaches. If Betfair decide 'We are going to use less of Approach A and more of Approach B within our system', they could do so, and still claim that they are using the system they were previously using. As Betfair employ human traders, there presumably is a discretionary side to their trading, as otherwise you'd expect them to just use bots.

Jeff

PS I shall refer to you by your real name from now on, although people might start talking! ;)

I should be so lucky!

I actually deleted my POF account after looking at my landlady's dating profile (having thought 'Nah, it can't be her!'), and then thinking 'I'd better delete my account ASAP before she sees I've been checking her out!'

Hi Jeff whatever activity they have in the market should be made public to avoid missunderstanding or suspicious that they are cheating the game. Even if they only placed 1 pound in the market, they should publish why they have placed that pound in the market. Betfair has lots of ambiguitys and sometimes operate in dark, hiding their actvitys from users, there must be a reason why they behave on purpose with such uncertainty.

P.S. you can call me with my real name. I don`t care what people think. Whatever you do people will always judge you. it's up to you to decide to be judged for something that makes you happy or to be judged for something that others have decided for you

It would be better, yes, although I can understand why Betfair might not want to go into specifics, for commercial reasons. Betfair are like any trader - they aren't going to give away their edge!

There is a clear conflict of interests. In the blink of an eye, I can think of at least 3 things they can do that are absolutely unfair.

Thanks Jeff. 16:55 was the first traded race for me today. I just sat in front of the market 3 min. before off time and managed £37 with just few scalps. I felt liquidity was real.

Maybe someone developed a strategy which requires a lot of money matched.

Since the anomaly last Mon & Tue things seem to have returned to normal. We haven't seen much in the stats to suggest otherwise.
