Mister Man - Can I respectfully suggest that you may be suffering from a martyr complex? :)

Another thread that was locked because he hijacked it and started coming on in the middle of the night and constantly picking fights with other posters and generally throwing abuse around.

Bad news on the flu, it can be really nasty.

Apparently "we" are the inner cartel, if I had known sooner i would have felt a bit special, but now i feel like i am the only one who doesn't know. PM's for how long this has been going on welcome, its great to know i am not alone in feeling excluded from the inner cartel.

Mister Man

I am reminded of the famous words of disgraced former government minister Jonathan Aitken (not that I'm comparing you to him!):

"If it falls to me to start a fight to cut out the cancer of bent and twisted journalism in our country with the simple sword of truth and the trusty shield of British fair play, so be it. I am ready for the fight. The fight against falsehood and those who peddle it. My fight begins today. Thank you and good afternoon."

We locked the other thread because we want the forum to be used as a place to exchange views and ideas in a positive manner, not to get into circular arguments.

The idea of the thread locking was to send that message out and to get back to reasoned, sensible debate. We have to draw the line somewhere and we just can't accept deliberately disruptive behaviour. It doesn't add any value whatever the justification.

The forum has grown to be very busy over the last year and that's on the back of some excellent debate and the vast majority has been conducted in absolutely the right spirit. Sure people are going to disagree now and again but that’s all part of fun, no need to get abusive.

When anything like this happens I always feel as if I’ve missed something, though I probably haven’t. Must try and find a bit more time for this forum.

Forums in my opinion shouldnt be locked or they will simply eventually cease to exist as it will send the wrong message. I can understand if it was over the top out of order and abusive but as far as i remember it was handbags between a couple of posters. Eventually the topic will die of its own death.

Ive posted topics in the past that I felt would get a response from senior members and been surprised how little feedback Ive got, so I can understand Mistermans frustration after a long time forum member (judging off number of posts) feeling like he has sometimes not got defining answers.

Judging off the responses and actions, I guess it was maybe a case of "where there is smoke......."

Hi Steven

I can understand your frustration (I've been there myself!). However, in fairness, many questions do get a response, and I don't blame people for playing their cards close to their chests, given that they would undermine their own edges if they were to give away too much.

I think Mister Man may have interpreted as hostile some comments which were intended as good natured or playful (including from me). I think that, when communicating via a forum, positive intentions don't always come across clearly, in the absence of body language and voice intonation. Incidentally, that's why I use smileys a lot (although some people may regard them as condescending, and it's a case of 'you can't please all the people all the time!'). :)

This forum is one of the most helpfull forums out there. It's full of usefull info for beginners.

That doesn't mean that someone is going to tell you how to make money, but they will at least point you in the right direction, if you know who you listen to that is ;) , the rest is then up to you.

Alot of people like myself rely on their instinct and experiance of a market to make money and it takes years to learn that, people need to understand it's not necessarily something you can put into a few lines on text on a forum. there is no click and win system.

the main problem with alot of people is they think this is a get rich quick scheme, but it is not, it's like everything else you have to serve your apprentiship and it's hard to get good at :D .

I did notice that following the thread that was blocked, another poster reluctantly gave some clear advice to someone else on another thread even though he vented he wasnt happy with the thread in question. Therefore the thread did actually create some positives from it right? In my opinion the best answers and info come from the most controversial topics at times.

There are plenty of old threads that should probably be re-raised and made sticky. One of the reasons that some posts receive few responses is because they have been discussed at length before. You also can't forget that a lot of us are actually here doing it live, so posts often get squeezed inbetween activity on the market. Also the forum is much busier than it used to be so that's made it easier for a thread to drop off the list without a response.

Happy to take on board any suggestions.
