There are some very basic rules that I think need to be adhered to if you want to be successful. They are (not exhaustive)
1) Discipline
2) Manage your expectations
3) Have an entry strategy
4) Have an exit strategy
5) Match your stake to the odds / liquidity / fill rate
Stick to these and you won't go far wrong
Why is it hard to increase stakes?

except that it's losing not loosing!psycho040253 wrote:Excellent post.aleksandar wrote: But if you have 1000 eur stake, than your winning trades will not always be with whole stake amount, some of them will be just partially matched. Opposed to that, your loosing trades, when market goes against you, will always be fully matched, 1000 eur. So you have winning trade with 517.14 eur stake opposed to loss with 1000 eur stake. That new component to the equation, (partially matched winning trades) minus (fully matched loosing trades) lowers profit per stake curve slope, and of course can lead to unprofitable situation if you exaggerate the stake

Hey mate, I'd love to see you making a point in a foreign language flawlessly
I understand a losing and loosing are different things, but isn't a horse on the loose a losing bet?

Not just Europe, the Chinese are better as well according to this http://www.education.gov.uk/inthenews/i ... d-the-best
When I was 14 or 15, and studying GCSE German, I went on an exchange trip to Germany. I could just about order a cup of tea in German, but the German kids could talk about politics and science in English!
The education system in this country is a joke!

Jeff,
We went to Norway for 2 weeks a few years back. I had a company car and they gave me permission to take it to Scandanavia. We drove from Kristiansand to Oslo, Lillehammer and finally Bergen. Amazing country, but we only met 1 person who didn't speak English, in fact some of them spoke better English with a wider vocabulary than a number of us.

Hey Jeff, it's not a matter of education, imho. The native language plays an important role. One of the things that helps explain why portuguese move a lot around the world is the fact that it's really easy for us to learn a language. I speak fluently spanish, english and french. In opposition, it's really hard for a spanyard a brit or a french to learn portuguese. Also, you don´t have to learn languages to a large extent, as all around the world someone speaks english.

I know this thread has gone way OT and I'm giving steps to push it further, but last week I went to a night visit at a museum in a former small fisherman village named Leixões, now an important port. Back then the village had a sanatorium that was very popular amongst the high class english that were sick with tuberculosis. So, I was told that due to this presence, Leixões become the first place outside Britain where both football and cricket were played. And this why you can still find the gear of those sports in the local club symbol.

Curiously, by then then english also introduced a habit that hadn't been heard around: going to the beach!
So, somewhat like football, you invented it, but were outrun by others?i generally find that the English spelling and grammar of Europeans is better than that of the average Brit.
