Perhaps the comments by Ibetya under the heading Ferru123 and MisterMan are not necessarily critical of MisterMan alone.
The real question here is whether this type of exchange is appropriate to a forum primarily devoted to trading. Of course, there is room on such a forum for issues other than straight trading matters; but I am certain that there are other forums that adequately cater for the type of point scoring we have seen over the last few years.
I welcome the opportunity to engage in debate over the seismic shift that is occurring in the world economy - as I'm sure many other forum members would. In my view, that debate is enhanced by contributors making statements that are designed to inform or even entertain. Unfortunately, most of the statements made by some contributors are simply shibboleths; that is, those statements are intended primarily to indicate (and after some repetition - to reinforce) the ideological stance of the contributor.
I attempted to engage in a debate on the economy but decided not to continue once certain posts drifted towards statements on racial purity and nationalism.
Surely, there must be an "Alf Garnett/Enoch Powell Memorial Forum" somewhere on which people who subscribe to those views can praise the virtues of society as it was years ago.
It is certain in my mind that it is not appropriate to use the BA Forum to push political views from the left or right.
The Bet Trader forum started out as informative, friendly and helpful. It was refreshing to experience the assistance and information that was freely offered in that forum - mostly in a spirit of other contributors gaining pleasure from the success of new traders. Yet,over time that forum descended into vitriol and naked hatred. It is now hardly worth reading. What attracted me to BA about 5 years ago was the appearance of a professional approach. When the BA forum began it was apparent that most members were genuinely pleased to offer advice and asssitance - and in large part that has continued. It would be lamentable if exchanges such as those between Ferru123 and MisterMan were to have the same debilitating effect on this Forum.
I welcome other forum members' views.

I think it's time that Bet Angel appointed a couple of moderators who started to look at things a bit closer.
I am happy for anything to be debated, but protracted bickering can get out of hand. Personal stuff needs to left at the door too.

Maybe we should. I've always been of the opinion that if you don't like a thread you just don't participate in it. I've always not wanted to stop debate on anything as long as its not distruptive or breaches somebodies rights. But its obvious that this freedom is abused now and again and we want to keep the board free, open, cordial and progressive. Maybe it is time to have stronger moderation?

i completely agree, censorship is and always will be a large step forward for the development of society and its way of communicating ideas !!!!!!!!!!
in the internet age, of forums and chat rooms, many participants now behave in a way that has been termed "trolling" a new phenomenon, of which we do have at least one very skilful exponent of this art on this site,and no its not me.
i put myself up for election as a moderator, if only to moderate the moderators, who will by default be able to act as thought police on any topic.

i would also like it on record that i have some weeks ago, posted that i did not wish to continue debate with a certain forum member and indeed if other members find my pitiful attempts at defending my beliefs against an onslaught of clearly targeted posts designed to inflame and then not discuss the content,i would and am willing to be banned from the forum immediately,if this can be done, as I find as you all know apart from the purile discussion on serious topics, the information and help on betting /bet angel related topics and issues to be already without moderation controlled and guided by senior forumites who are less than inclusive to the greater community.

No one is forced to read any of it. As long as it's lawful and not in bad taste, I don't think we should censor content. I strongly disagree with lots of the views expressed, but feel disinclined to enter into any unproductive discourse which is unlikely to change entrenched opinions. But if others enjoy these little set-to's then who am I to spoil their fun?

The simple way to stop disruptive people is to simple ignore them. I haven't looked at the thread that is causing a problem because I'm more interesting in this trading lark and working hard to earn some dosh. Not going to waste my time on drivel.
