Hi
I was just looking through some stats in the Betfair data and noticed that Synchronised was traded at 1000/1 in the Antepost for £33.04 ! on the 16th March (Which it won of course!)...hope someone on here was lucky..! :D

What happened there then??
Regards

Hi
It wasn't in play that the odds went to 1000, it was in the Antepost market, so could have been days or weeks beforehand..

Yes £33 too!

Maybe at some point they were considering not entering the horse and the odds went upto 1000?
(How does Ante post work? If I were to place a bet on a horse and it didn't run, would I lose my stake money??)

It's probably because he was never really an intended runner so somebody tried to be smart and offered 1000 thinking they were "buying money" We all know there is no such thing but it happens. A similar thing happened with Binocular (two years ago I think) where he was doubtful.

Had he not won the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown on 28/12/11 I doubt they would have left him in the Gold Cup.

Ante Post markets are different from day of race market. Ante Post markets are suspended before the day of race market opens.

That is probably why people didn't notice it, they would have had to have looked at the Ante Post market to see it.

If you back a horse in an Ante Post market on Betfair you lose your money - with some bookmakers at certain times they will offer the horse "with a run" which means you get your money back if the horse doesn't run.

Finally the person laying the 1000.0 odds could simply have been making a book and thus been happy to lay the horse at those odds.

Thanks Gents
I will certainly be looking for similar opportunities in the future..I could have knocked another year off retirement with that £33K!
