Away from home at the moment and blew my 3gig monthly mobile broadband allowance in 4 days. It now would be an extra £15 a gig (Virgin)

Decided to go for one of the advertised unlimited T-Mobile deals but as soon as I mentioned my usage on BA/BF they backed away saying that the unlimited is browsing the web only and not using excessive data sites like Betfair.

Sounds like unlimited broadband is not exactly that.

ive got tmobile unlimited through my android , i dont use my bet angel , but i keep an eye on the automation , i have the betfair app constantly refreshing every 5 seconds , ive never had any problems , then again its nothing like my bet angel , my friend has all you can eat on 3 network , but any large files are blocked until he links to wifi , he usually tethers up to my android to download , still had no problems , ive tethered my laptop to my phone and downloaded a movie so i dont think it would be a problem , my advice is try it for 1 month. if it triggers the fair usage policy then get rid,you should try the vps , then the server would do the work you would control it through your phone/tablet/laptop like a browser .

you could try btopenzone (btfon) - but no need to pay for it. if you have bt internet it's free and unlimited, so use your own username+password if you have it or get a friends details.

Unfortunately there is no btopenzone where I am staying. Decided to go for a 3 - 15gig per month with no usage restrictions and I should also be able to use for backup when at home (the virgin mobile breodband rarely worked there).

Will just have to keep a check on what data I am using.

Sorry legendz, I did not ignore your advice - the staff in T-Mobile would not sign me up after I had told them of my usage.

The 3 worked fine yesterday from 1pm to 8pm using BA with a refresh of 1 second and Guardian loaded with markets I was interested in but paused.

The usage was

297.6 MB download
146.3 MB upload
443.9 MB total

Does anyone know why the upload is so high? I would not have thought requests to BF would be half the download size, uploading speeds are also a lot lower than downloading.

Just done a speed test at speedtest.net on the new dongle

Ping 91ms
Download speed 6.93 Mbps
Upload speed 2.09 Mbps

The Virgin one was in the low 100s.

Im not in the UK but 3gigs of download doesnt seem much.

297.6 MB download/Download speed 6.93 Mbps = about 40 seconds?
