Thinking about it, you may not be on the same settings as me. For these really big fields I have a seperate setting with a slower unmatched and matched bet update rate. Call's to Betfair's database take the longest to return and I bet you there were probably a record number of bets matched on that race.
I had a bit of trouble that was the same at some Cheltenham races - it was OK until my bets started getting matched, at which point it would freeze up until my bet was fully matched. Maybe I should do what you suggest Peter with the matched and unmatched refresh rates as I've got them set to 200
just had more trouble, phoned them... said been trouble all day even tho here -> http://service.betfair.info/ says all is well. no supprises really. People should email them more... no1 bothers so they dont even realise half the time
