'Among the current English Premier League teams which have played 50 or more home games since 2006, the statistics supplied by the sports data specialists Opta show that, on average, Manchester United have conceded one penalty every 12 home games.

This is more than Fulham, who have conceded roughly one penalty every 14 games at home.

So it is actually more common for a visiting team to get a penalty at Old Trafford than Craven Cottage.'

That's that urban myth put to bed! ;)

I love how the scottish treat the English. It's not about sour grapes, in fact I don't support Ac Milan, I don't support Inter Milan, I don't support Arsenal, I don't support Chelsea and I don't support Real Madrid.
Barcelona has also suffered some referee decision against but not as much as those teams above have suffered against Barcelona and not as scandales as the above. I can't say the same about Man utd. I can easily forget if there was a soft penalty in favor of Man utd because I can see was just a referee mistake but as for Barcelona there is more then just a referee mistake. Footballers and Managers know when they play vs them even if they did play better the result would be faked by some referee decision. The problem is that only one manager had the guts to tell the truth and has been giving ban for it.

That sounds like sour grapes! :)

Why the uefa assigns a game so sensitive as Barcelona vs Chelsea to this referee? Cüneyt Cakir?
Is this another referee delegated to commit the dirty work for uefa? His last appearance in the Champions League was in November 3, 2010 Chelsea vs Spartak moscow and it was his second and last match in the champions league. His debut was with Rubin Kazan vs Barcelona the same year on September 29. His last appearance in the international field was at the Under 20 World Cup last August with 5 presence which are not worth 10 minutes in the champions league. Why the UEFA shows that irresponsibility on a game where everyone knows Barcelona will try cheating for yellow cards or red cards and on the latest Chelsea performances so will Chelsea?.

I almost forgot this referee pulls out yellow cards as much as the english players cheat their wifes ..very easily. ;)

Barcelona vs Chelsea

We looked at our historical database of matches and found 235 matches that looked very similar. The market is discounting a 78.7% chance of a Barcelona win, a 7.7% chance of a Chelsea win and a 13.9% chance of a draw. Our historical data shows that a match like this has produced in the past a 76.2% chance of a home win, a 6.8% chance of a away win and a 17% chance of a draw. This converts into odds of 1.31 14.71 & 5.88 respectively. If you feel that historic data is a good guide to this match, then this suggests that the draw is too long, overpriced and therefore you should back it.

The market is forecasting 3.23 goals. Historically there have been 3.18 goals in similar matches according to our database. The market is pricing over 2.5 goals at odds of 1.62. Historically 57% of similar matches ended over 2.5 goals which translates into digital odds of 1.75. This is hinting at lay value in this market.

The home team has scored at least one goal in 92.3% of matches. The away team has scored at least one goal in 49.4% of matches. The home team have scored two or more goals on 68.1% of occasions and three or more goals on 14% of occasions. The away team have scored two or more goals on 14% of occasions and three or more goals on 5.5% of occasions.

Peter - you chatted about the potential 'techical' arb opportunity on tonights match. I have spent some time looking at this, however, wouldn't there some element of exposure if the match were to go to ET as the correct score market only covers 90+ of time. I would worry of the exposure if it did go to ET with a position on the To Qualify market.
I probably am missing something however! Can you shed any more light?

Which is why I called it technical, there are gaps but you can hedge them if you wish. It just depends what level of risk you want to take.

Chelsea held out well but sending off and a goal has pretty much put the tie beyond them now I should think.

I lost the signal for 10 minutes. I have red on the italian sport paper John terry has been sent off..Was it fair or was the usually soft red card in favor of barcelona? I hope my signal will be back by the second half..

So Peter - beofre kick-off total goals for match around 3.2 goals, with Chelsea down to 10 men and 45 min left how many more goals likely?

Got to think there is another 2 in this?

It was completely deserved IMHO.

What Terry did had nothing to do with football - it was an unprovoked assault. If it had happened in the street, Terry would have been arrested for assault...

"I'm going to stay out and play!" after that Chelsea goal..

Have made a small amount which I'm going to play with for the 2nd half!
