Hi all,
I'd like to replicate part of the dutching system on my excel sheets, but I can't see how to calculate the stakes for every selection.
Now I'd back 5 selections for say 46.7% of the book, for a target profit of £10. So I see the odds for one selection at 3.05 which give a stake of 6.15 but I just can't see how to get to such stake and then to those of the other selections. So if we call elements with such names:
B the book, 46.7%
D the odds, 3.05
P the target profit, 10
N the number of selections, 5
S calculated stake, 6.15
How to get to S knowing the other elements? Is something missing?

I certainly can't use the stakes total which is the sum of the calculated stakes....

anybody knows the formula?
thanks for any help..

The algorithm to dutch is this. If you have five horses named A to E and you want to bet £10 in total:

First convert all to percentages (1 / odds).

A stake = ((A% / (A%+B%+C%+D%+E%)) X £10
B stake = ((B% / (A%+B%+C%+D%+E%)) X £10

... and so on.

Hi Ebasson,
thanks for your reply. Perhaps I didn't explain well enough. We haven't got a "total stake" here but we "back for a target profit of" £10, so we'll have a total stake when we have calculated each single one of the stakes...

I created the attached spreadsheet years ago to do this for dutching.

You can change any cell highlighted in yellow.

There is a bookmaking tab also but I didn't get around to completing the 'Target profit' page. Feel free to add this yourself once you figure out how to do it.

It wouldn't take much to link it to Bet Angel so it loads up the prices automatically if anyone wants to give that a go also?
