The Guardian weren't impressed (and neither was the Mexican ambassador!): http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2011/ ... n-mexicans

I think it's great that, in an otherwise politically correct BBC, Top Gear can get away with this kind of thing!

Jezza's column in The Sun was good. He was pointing out how British humor worked.
I worked for a French company for 20 years, I worked with many Frenchmen and Germans, including spells working in both those countries amongst others too. The culture of banter was prevalent and I can tell you they give as good as they get. When I was at the Sochaux plant in France with Peugeot all my French colleagues called me "You Roast Beef eating fat bastard" and we had some great names for the onion crunching, garlic breathing twats too. Had a great time and I am still in touch with those great chaps. That's banter, the world should get it's sense of humor back.
I think I have a theory about this. I really don't believe it's the "foreigners" that are complaining. I reckon it's our media that is shit stirring, trying to get a reaction. This apply's to the Sky sports sexism row too. The "factory floor humor" is dying and i know why......There are no factory floors anymore and everyone works for the council, we all know how PC those lot are.
Now I work at home (alone) my banter and piss taking skills are diminishing, I only have the wife to practice on lol.

On the topic of political correctness, have you seen this article by Toyah Wilcox? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12381898

She writes:

'My message to you is to insist all female age groups - and male for that matter - have equal, respectful, visible representation in all fields of the media.'

I can't believe that my license fee is paying for this one-sided drivel! I thought this BBC was supposed to be apolitical! Anyway, rant over! :)

There's a way too thin line between a good joke and racism these days. I love dark humour, hope its days aren't over!

People's sense of humour needs improvement too. I find it's funny when people make a joke about the portuguese bailout or the portuguese way.

And I love to joke about us and all the rest of the world, the spanish are 'the rude' (because they talk too loud), the french are 'the très chic', the canadians are 'those who fear the dark', etc.

Btw, we call the brits 'bifes' which means steaks, because when you come here you never order fish and all you seem to know to eat is steaks! You do have a problem with food. The best meals I had in the UK were foreign food!

I agree!

Even if the choice of song was aimed at the Chinese guy, to call the police and complain of racial harassment is crazy!

The police should have told him 'The singer's taste in music might be criminal, but we can't arrest him for that!' and hung up!

You are spot on! I usually have a holiday with my parents as they love to take my children with them. I have a mixed background and love "foreign" food. We love Spain both Mainland and Balearics and myself my wife and my two children actively seek out local food. Sometimes the place is remote and we have to try our best Spanish to make an order. I prefer fish dishes and my wife and children are the same. Sadly my Mum and Dad are the opposite and the only fish they eat is in batter from the local chippy. If they accompany us on our culinary exploration we have to hope they can have an omelette, steak oh..................and chips with absolutely NO salad!!

Don't even start to mention spicy food......the smell is enough to put them off!

Unison wants Jeremy Clarkson sacked over strike comments - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15977813

'Unison said it was considering reporting the comments to the police.'

Do Unison think that the police don't watch TV, and won't be aware of something that was said at prime time on BBC 1?
