I will start by apologising for this post for the many of you it will upset. But it is for your own good, if you read it and it makes sense to you, you will be taking the first steps to being a better trader.
Please don't take any of this personally, it isn't meant to be like that.

What I am unhappy about and the subject of my rant is a follows.

There seems to be more and more new users using the forum to make suggestions how to improve the software. Bet Angel is the most complex piece of kit on the market. It does things that even after 7 years I cannot get my head around. But it doesn't stop them asking. Many of the features requested already exist in 1 form or another.

It is my advice to all of you new traders and users to help you make consistant profits is to spend some time to understand the markets. Forget what the software does, forget any get rich quick scheme (there is none).
Understand what the market does and what changes it's behaviour. Only then can you formulate a strategy that will make money.

If a football team moves for 2.1 to 1.7 in the hours before a match, find out why. There is always a reason. Then look for this to happen again....but be ready to take advantage.
Get tools that enable you to quickly gather information. Information is your friend.

There are few short cuts, trust me I have spent most of my adult life looking for them.

Work out how a market behaves, how does X affect Y. Look at the relationships across different markets of the same event. e.g. In Soccer most markets are connected somehow. Find an entry point, manage your risk, balance your risk v reward ratios. Create an exit point (win or lose). Work on your discipline. There is no easy way apart for 100's of hours of graft. Ask any pro. They will all tell you the same. You don't read a book, watch a video buy some software and then turn on the cash machine. It does not happen.

All this sounds negative. But you CAN make it happen. It really isn't that hard. There is no "magic" formular. there is no massive secret. It is really as easy as as I have described. 99% of people who bet are followers who copy the market. The 1% who make the money are the ones who know how the markets work and how to use this information to their advantage.

Once you have worked how the markets perform AND exhausted any possibility of the software not doing what you want it too. Then is the time to suggest something new.
If you first post on the forum is to ask for "an improvement" your setting yourself up for some harsh comments.

Sorry about this. I had to say it.

I think that is a fair comment.
All of the successful people on here work hard; there is no short cut and you have to put the "spade work" in.
However, that spade work can have spin offs too. It can become a hobby that generates an income.
I have many systems in test and always looking for new ideas; one of the systems I have in test at the moment is about a grand up after seven weeks. It is something that is pre off and I'm constantly honing and refining it and then watching what happens. Its a little like planting a seed in the greenhouse and then watch it grow. I dont know if it will prove to be net positive long term, but thats part of the fun
I guess what I'm trying to say is that when you work hard at something and take the time to explore every avenue, it can be a pleasurable pastime/career
regards
Peter

Agree 100%, i too have something on test like Peter which is £600 quid up within 3 weeks. When you work hard the rewards show, when people dont get a reply on here straight away they get a bit Trolley about it

Less of a 'Rant', more a patronising load of drivel.
When you say 'Bet Angel is the most complex piece of kit on the market. It does things that even after 7 years I cannot get my head around', that's not true as there are other software equally as complex and if you cant get your head around anything that's more a reflection of your limited capabilities than the complexity of the software.
Although Bet Angel is OK, it has some serious limitations and Peter really needs to work on a number of things to bring it up-to-date. If you or he don't know what they are then you obviously have a problem of course.
Sadly none of the current crop of Betfair apps come anywhere close to Sporting Lot's STW which is sadly no more. That made Bet Angel look like a child's toy.

You're also confusing functionality with the way in which the software is used. Because someone suggests some functionality it doesn't mean they they're noobs or can't make a profit.

I think your post exactly points out what MugsGame was ranting about. Your failure to declare an interest undermines your contribution to the forum and merely adds weight to what mugsgame was saying about new users posting requests.

We are happy to consider all suggestions to improve the product. But we have to make sure they are genuine and considered requests first.

Think your missing the point.
My point is the software's functionality isn't the issue. It is the basic understanding of the market. If you can't make a profit your strategy and understanding of the market is your issue. Not any software.

I have no problem using it. But then again I do understand the markets.

STW was in some parts ahead of it's time. Where is it now?

We have taken the rare decision to lock this thread because sometimes things are not quite as they seem. We are happy for people to openly discuss many things but only if they are open, honest and in the genuine interests of the forum and it's members. We just don't tolerate 'new users' posting to wind up or dish out abuse. Pretty much every time this happens it turns out the poster has an ulterior motive and the same has happened with 'Ben Dover'. Shame on you.
