Joe Cole had a disastrous year with Liverpool.

Firstly he wasn't fit when he arrived. When Kenny took over he obviously didn't fancy him and he was played out on the wing and used as a sub mostly.

Lets not forget at one time he was the saviour of England. A sublime footballer, he is creative, great passer and intelligent.

Brendan Rogers worked with him at Chelsea, it's no surprise that he will have him back in the team. I can see him playing the same role as Leon Britton does for Swansea.

It will be interesting to see if both him and Aquilani figure this season. I'm not sure about the Leon Britton comparison, I think he could play a similar position well enough but then you're restricting his ability to drive into the box. I'm not convinced he'd be disciplined enough to play the same role.

With the current squad I'd have thought Henderson may fit well in a Britton type role. He obviously get's quite a bit of stick but he's technically good, has a quality first touch and excels with short range passing. Rodgers could really get the best out of him. The majority of the time I was critical of Henderson last year was in attacking areas.

My understanding of Britton's role may be wrong.

I see him as pulling the strings. A pivotal point from which things begin. A bit like Xavi for Barca. A creative spring

I think you're probably right, especially as he seemed to have lost a bit of pace when I last saw him, due to age and knee problems. A holding central midfielder could be tailor made for him

As for Jordan Henderson, I think his best position is left back........in the changing rooms! (old ones always the best) :D
