I just watched a video with this, obviously this idea has come from the three big software giants with greening up feature, but it makes you wonder would this dimise the sale of trading software. BA has far more features than the others, not saying this as a long time member/user but then again how fast is the cash out feature on BF site. The fact you can now cash out on the i phone for me is very good, but again i prefer the software anyday especially on my 30mb BT line very quick

Betfair launched the Cash Out in February 2011
from bf site:
Since Cash Out was introduced through our In-Play match pages the product has been growing in popularity amongst our customers with approximately 20% of Football actives now cashing out per month

Suppose then more liquidity but more site crashes and slow ups due to the sheer weight of volume

Cash out feels a bit like 'greening for dummies'. I was surprised to see them implement it as they had always seemed adverse to 'trading like' features on the site as it reduces the overall commission they could generate. That said they also lifted 'keep bets' from API software as well. We implemented a pre-cursor to keep bets back in 2006.

Don't think it's had any specific impact though as this type of hedging has always been pretty easy to do.

I recently started looking at trading on betfair because of the 'cash out' function on on betfair, i backed Man United to win against Chelsea last season win they were 3-0 down. I noticed when i went on my phone later on that it was offering me the chance to cashout for a £20 profit which I went and did. I spent the next few weeks looking out for 'hot favourties' falling behind & quickly backing them & thus cashing out at a profit if & when they equalised, i suppose i was trading without even realising it. I since looked into more strategies and have recently bought Bet Angel myself. I have turned from a punter & am now making efforts at being a trader. I don't think I would have made this transition had it not been for the 'cash out' option on Betfair.

Ive seen it on the site but i only really log on to betfair to check my p&l when im testing spreads , i find using 1p stakes is easier than exporting data then checking results against it , ive always found everything on the site is so slow and have said before bet angel is worth the subscription for the speed it moves through markets let alone the countless other goodies it offers.

I'm wary of the BF cash out function, as I'm not convinced how efficient their algorithm is.

If you check the BF cash out figure against a "green-up" figure in BA, I always find the BA figure considerably higher.
