Yes, that would be the way, a team of three referees in front of a tv that could see everything and a field referee to enforce the decisions, like what happens in baseball I think? But where do you draw the line? Dispute every decision, say when it isn't clear who got the last touch for a throw in, every foul etc etc?

So, today it's the day when Greece can throw Germany out of the Euro (pun intended).

Unfortunately won't see the big match today, might give important clues to the rest of the tournment.

Feels like Spain should cruise through 1 or 2 nil tonight but despite the WC win I always feel they don't play as well as the line of players should suggest. With France likely to get stuck in from the off to secure an early goal, they know given time and space the Spanish man for man will out play them, I just wonder if the market has got the odds right - 5.4 for France just seems too much for what will be a fairly tight affair.
On this basis I might back France for the first 20mins for an early goal (Spanards can be sloppy at the back) then switch to the Spanish win.
I think Spain will prevail but it's tight, what's everyone else's thoughts ?

Oh well so much for that theory, Spain looking too good for France and to be honest my prediction of 1 or 2 nil seems about right... but the gambler in me is still going to have a tenner on the French win HT @23.0 seems like good value, trade out if they get an equaliser. And if they don't equalise it's £10 for the satisfaction of seeing France lose.
Without wishing to sound unpatriotic, does anyone agree with me that England are probably a good lay against Italy at 2.96?
Let's not forget that Italy were the 2006 World Champions, whereas our national team hasn't achieved anything noteworthy since we reached the semi-finals of Euro 96 (when we were hosting the tournament)...
Also, Italy have already managed to draw 1-1 with World Champions Spain in this tournament, whereas the England of the matches so far in the tournament would have been lucky to have gotten away with a 0-2 drubbing against Spain...

I'm afraid I can't agree. I don't think it's a fair comparison to look at the two 1-1 matches at the start of the tournament and compare them to the 2-0 we just saw.
Italy have so far drawn 2 games and won 1 (against what I would rate as the least likely team in the tournament). England have won 2, including a game against the hosts, and drawn against the third favourites in the tournament.
If we look at the match we just saw England would have been happy to play that French team today. It was also a game that could have easily been a 1-0 save a fairly soft penalty decision. England haven't been fantastic but neither have Italy, and England have displayed the most important attribute in football which is getting the job done. Both teams look the sort to be content with a scrappy 1-0 rather than a fabulous 3-3 classic, and I have no doubt that England look the more likely to take that goal.
They rave about Balotelli but we have 3 of his team-mates who will know how to shut him out. I'd be tempted to put some on him seeing red and England will take the win from there. My main stake will be on the lovely new market on betfair, Match Odds and Under 2.5 goals where England are currently trading at a very decent 5.

I'm with Cloud88111 on this one. Italy needed to win their last game to qualify against an Irish side playing the worst football I have had the misfortune to see in my 31 years, yet didn't seem to have any stand out players.
Pirlo, Cassano, and Di Natale seem to be their danger men so if Pirlo can be neutralized in the middle then the other 2 will be without the ball thus not dangerous.
IMO Gerrard is playing the best I've ever seen him play for England and I think he'll run the show.
Therefore with his crossing being so good lately, I'll dutch a few quid between 4 things:
1. Rooney scoring at any time,
2. Carroll scoring at any time.
Both from Gerrard crosses hopefully, this tourny has the most headed goals of any Euro so far and Carroll could be a NR so money back if he doesn't play.
3. Walcott to score at any time, chap is in great form from what I've seen.
4. Gerrard to be man of the match.
It's not my money I'm using anyway, it's the bookies after lumping on Rooney to score first against Ukraine

Don't forget, Spain lost their opening match in the WC to Switzerland. That didn't make the Swiss a nation to be feared by other teams
