I've worked out the w.o.m percentage for each runner, but I'll be dammed if I can work out the over round %

Can anyone help?

Hi Nigel,

In old bookmaking terms you can work out the % each horse takes out of the book & then add them up.

EG 4 horse race 100% book means all 4 horses should be 3/1 so (100/3+1) = 25 %...X 4 =100%

Ev = 50%
2/1 = 33%
3/1 = 25 %
4/1 = 20%
etc

I think that was what you were asking?

No worries,

If you look at a lot of races you can estimate the overound in your head & if you ever go in a bookies & see the 1st show on a dog race you'll often see something like this;
3/1 25%
3/1 25%
4/1 20%
9/4 31%
9/2 18%
3/1 25%

144% book (44% overound)

This is typical & should ring a big alarm bell
