hey guys,
i have 10markets open in guardian set to 200ms refresh rate. when I look at the "Last Update" column in guardian, I can see how guardian cycles through the market one by one, given my internet connection about 1-2s per market. this is ok.
However, when I look at the corresponding sheet's "Last Updated Cell" (C3 from the betangel multi sheet template) sometimes it corresponds well with the number in Guardian, sometimes, it only updates ever 2-3cycles or even more, leaving the sheet unchanged for sometimes 20-30 seconds.
so my question is: how is the guardian-excel communication handled in the multi market scenario? why is it possible that markets are skipped for multiple cycles even though guardian refreshes? what is causing this and how can I influence it?
thanks!
guardian<->excel refresh rate
i have the same problem, just two markets 200ms and excel updates every 10 seconds! i would like to know what computer you have. i also have a sheet for 100 markets for placing one bet in every market and it's not executing the bets properly, maybe after 100! refresh cycles all bets are placed. how can that be.
unfortunately, I couldn't solve this to my satisfaction. through reading on this board, I increased the refresh rate to 1-2s and that seems to have made things better. At least keeping the refresh rate consistent to 15-20s between two cycles with 10markets, which I guess I have to settle with...
are you're 100 markets all live at the same time? if not, consider the guardian restrict refresh rate to only cycle through relevant markets. together with the auto-bind and auto-clear bindings settings on the excel tab, you can increase speeds significantly.
i use guardian on os x through parallels desktop with win7 (2GB, dual core), excel is taking up about 45% CPU when running 10markets. i don't think that's the issue, rather then underlying coding between guardian and excel (activeX?). would love to hear bet angel's thoughts on this issue, too...

the fact is simple: it doesnt work, it's badly programmed, it's not really tested. so i must write my own thing. probably the best what could happen to me. sorry for the tone, still think BA is one of the better programmes, but i have lost hundreds because of all the bugs. wanted to put all in automation, doesn't work also, only limited number of rules possible. sometimes i think it's purpose.
Bet Angel uses Microsoft's Excel Primary Interop Assemblies to control Excel.
We use Excel with Bet Angel on a daily basis, so it's thoroughly tested and we've not seen the slow update issues you've described. Please could you contact support with details of the problem and we'll investigate further. Please provide details of the types of markets you've added to Guardian, whether you've got your own macros running in Excel and which version of Excel you're using. The more details you can give us, the easier it'll be for us to attempt to recreate the issue.
Thanks

the issue happens irrespective of markets (i have tennis and over/under markets in soccer). also i can switch off all my macros and it still happens (i have some if statement checks in the rest of the sheet, but that shouldn't be the issue).
just bind 10 markets to excel multi market sheet from the templates. put the guardian refresh interval to 200ms and compare the numbers in the "last update" column to those in C3. sometimes it takes 1min until they are the same again...if the refresh interval is increased to 3-5s, it works every time.

i apologise. there is no rule limit in automation, i'm doing almost all my stuff with automation now, i'm fine.
i blame it on microsoft intertop assemblies, since the automation can handle a lot of markets easy, and if it says updated, you can be sure that all triggers got active.
kind regards

does anyone know if the
application.enableEvents = false
statement can cause this slowdown? or any other application setting? I doubt it, but just to be sure....it's quite frustrating to see guardian updating more or less at times, but it just doesn't get through to excel even when the refresh rate is set to 1s.
anyone an idea?

My opinion this is a computer limitation thing
Just an update
Within Guardian I now sort my markets by "Last update" and this seems to have resolved my excel skipping updates at 300ms
Weird I know
Hi
I still have some issues with the refresh between Guardian and excel, even with restricted refresh set
if I have, say, 100 markets in guardian of which 2 are live and the other 98 are well outside the restricted refresh time it still can take guardian some 5 seconds to refresh my excel between updates for the live markets (even though refersh time set to 300ms - i've tried playing with different amounts, the shorter time the quicker, it's almost like it's still trying to cycle through the other markets even though it knows they are outside the refresh time)
PC speed is often given as the issue and i think that can impact it, but now i'm using a quad core i7 processor at 4ghz with 16gb RAM so it's definitely not that. I have also tried on another fast PC with the same results. It seems to be worse in the recent BA version as this problem used to be more intermittent - very weird but some days it was ok and some not... Again i really don't think it's totally a PC thing
There is also another Refresh issue, when you click 'Refresh' at the bottom left of the guardian market window, sometimes it just comes up with blanks and doesn't display any markets on any sports... This seems to be more likely to happen if it hasn't been refreshed for 24 hours or overnight - so not sure if it's a Betfair issue (maybe if there was a short outage overnight or something else) or a Display issue in BA
The solution is to close down BA completely and re-open, which isn't the end of the world but a little annoying to set everything up again
