Is there a way to get an SP lay bet into the market using Bet Angel?

Depends whether you want to do it manually or on Auto?
Click on "User Guide" on the right, there are loads of examples in there

Thanks Peter. I've read the user guide but I can't find how to make the same bet with BA that I can make by using the Betfair.com betting slip.

If (using BA) I put a large lay bet into the market, at odds that will not get matched, and set it as "Take SP", I nearly always find that only part of the bet gets on.

If I use Betfair website betting slip and make a large bet with the Take SP button, the whole bet gets on every time.

I would prefer to make all bets from BA. How could I use BA to make large lay bets, and get them on at SP?

I,ve had that a couple of times on the greyhounds it doesn't always match the full amount i'm not talking large amounts either so you would expect them to get matched.

Having said that its not a big problem i just close out at the lay price just before the off instead.

Sorry Flanna, i dont know the answer?
It seems strange that you only get partially matched? I dont use it myself, but there are many traders on here that use take SP as a safety net, so maybe someone else can comment>?

When you say you don't get completely matched, the sp formula looks at the liability you are willing to risk on the lay. So if you have a lay for 5 at 10.0 but the odds have drifted out to 20.0 and the sp ends up being 20, it won't match you for your full 5. It will match you for 2.5. This is good IMHO.

Yes Gazuty, that is what is happening. That explains why the bet is not fully matched. I need to find a better way to get the bets on than just putting it in the market and activating "Take SP".

If I want to lay a horse with a liability of 100 and make this a fully matched SP bet how could I do it with BA? Imagine that it is some minutes before the off and the odds are wandering up and down a lot. I want to make sure that the 100 goes on at SP just like I can do on the Betfair website with the Betting Slip.

But when you choose 'Take SP' this simply sends that request to the exchange. You can check this by looking at your bet status on the betslip on the Betfair website.

So it will work exactly the same.

Thanks The Tub but I don't agree. Something is different. If I use the online betting slip at Betfair to make a lay bet with liability of 100 with the "Take SP" facility, I always get the bet fully matched. I cannot find any way to do that with BA. BA seems unable to make the "fully matched" and "SP" combination.

It is the same. You can quickly prove this.

Try this: use Bet Angel to select 'TakeSP' on an unmatched bet and you will see the bet update in the bet slip on the Betfair website.

Thanks again The Tub. I'm going to try that this afternoon when the racing begins.

When I tick the 'Take SP All' button does this go straight to Betfair i.e if I close BA is the bet still active with a 'Take SP' order? I ask because there are few internet and power outages here at the moment.
Also, is there a way to automatically set 'Take SP'? I am using a Guardian automation rule to Take SP (thanks Peter for the video) but I guess this 'manages' positions, unlike the Take SP button so again BA must be on?

Once you "Take SP" this goes to BF. If you look on the BF interface you can see the persistance has changed. I use this all the time for exactly the same reasons you have said. It has saved my ass loads. It might not take the best position, but it's better than spunking your cash up the Betfair wall. Not sure about the Guardian rule. But I would assume it's the same. I think support should be able to tell you.
