I've been using BA for just over a month.
I'm currently learning how attempting to Dutch part of a field in horse race can seriously damage your wealth.
I would like to be able to have back bets held way off the money to be triggered if a long priced selection (like two 44+ horses yesterday) comes storming through to take the race. While this wouldn't save my skin completely it would at least apply a small plaster to the wound.
So my question is. How do I place a back bet at say, 2.0 when the selection's current odds are say, 25.0 and only have it triggered in-play, if required.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Dutching Protection?
If this is for in running I don't think it will work, what happens is the prices move so fast especially if a horse is coming from behind. If the bet fired the chances are the the price would go straight past it and only get matched if it the horse doesn't win or gets involved in a protracted battle.
I agree that it remains to be seen whether its worth doing as sometimes there can be an odds battle just before the end and then the high priced horse falls back and loses anyway. I have tried using the In-Play trader which works quite well but the odds are thrashing about so much its hard to tell when to click. I had gained the impression that you might be better off just accepting the losses. Until yesterday, when two of the buggers won.
Is there anyway of leaving a bet in the market but out of the money? I would like to test it in Practice Mode.

if you ask for a lower price you'll get matched at best price straight away, triggering is too slow. yes your right about a battle. But in the long term you'll lose.
You may be better looking to LAY at low prices. There is a great blog
