This is a truly awful uninspiring race and you'd need certifying or perhaps a fair few drinks if you wanted to have a bet in it. So why am I mentioning it on here?

Well this is a hands and heels affair with amateur riders. The ground will be dreadful so it could be a struggle to get these horses home let alone win. With that in mind there could be an angle from which a profit can be gleaned.

They are betting almost 2.0 about the front three combined which is totally mental. If someone held a gun to my head I would probably go with Trendelenburg but it is a very tentative selection and I will not be betting it. They've made it favourite too!

You can try to trade this in running as it would be tough to get home on this ground in a normal race with pro riders and whips allowed. With amateurs onboard and no whips it is going to require a lot of urging and this can result in horses stopping very quickly, refusing or getting headed close home. So you can look to lay a leader that had traded down well below <2.0 with 2-3 hurdles to go or do a similar thing later in the race. This is NOT a guarantee to make a profit but I would say this race may present a better chance of doing so.

What I tend to do is offer a very low price like 1.39 for example so the risk/reward ratio is high. I would be surprised not to get a profit long term in races of this type.

You MUST be able to watch the race because you don't want one horse swinging off the bridle with others struggling in behind. Yes, the horse may still stop but it restricts your chances; I tend to aim really low if one is swinging along with ~1.10 or lower at times.

I am NOT suggesting laying below 2.0 blindly, I am simply offering advice on a race where it may work. It will certainly make for interesting viewing as these horses swim for the winning post!

Remember, small stakes and enjoy!

Weird race with one of the main contenders refusing to race. You did get one of the runners down to 1.62 but it wasn't anything special.
