Hello,

I'm a few months into trading horse races and I thought i'd try scalping at Cheltenham today.

I was using quite low stakes (£1 tick) on the favourites, but I found it very hard to judge my timing and get enough trades in with the huge amount of volume, if I did get matched at both ends it meant joining a very long Q to start again. I get the impression it would be easier to influence the market with higher stakes?

I want to trade the bigger meetings but at present my results have been muh better with lower grade racing and swing trading.

You will end up at the back of a massive queue but it shouldn't deviate much from the current price so it should be a bit safer. Cheltenham was a bit erratic today though.

Yes it was - I was looking forward to Cheltenham but much better results at Newcastle and Lingfield. I will try again tomorrow and change my approach.

Thanks.

Exactly the same result for me, so you are in good company!

Sorry to hear that, but maybe i'm on the right track. Today wasn't as frustrating for me at Cheltenham, and I'm starting to gain confidence and realise what is possible under the right circumstances now that i'm getting some good market time in! - I would also recommend to any beginners like me to record some of your trades and watch them back, you migh be suprised by some of the decisions you take in the heat of the moment!
