Hi

I understand pre-race stability for betting purposes has a connection with race grade and favourite price, but is it only the favourite that is affected by this criterea? If, for example, the favourite is at say 1.3 and the second favourite is at 5.0 would the latter horse be as volatile as the favourite?
Thanks

All volatility is related because of the book value. So if something goes up then something else has to compensate, so if you have a volatile favourite all other prices will move as well.

Does the favourite have a greater effect on the rest of the market's volatility than the volatility of other individual horses?

Most of the traded volume will be on the favourite, so regardless of where I am in the market I am always looking at the favourite.
