You need to check with operating system it is using. There are two different OS's for Windows 8.

It'll run on Windows 8 Pro or Windows 8 that you'll find installed on new laptops and desktop PC's. I have Windows 8 Pro and have no problems at all.

I think Peter thought you were talking about mobile devices?

Windows RT is the version designed for tablets and I'm fairly sure it won't run on this.

It definitely will not run on Windows 8 Mobile.

Thanks Six i just found out from the repair shop my Laptop is a write off went to PC world too have a look at some, was a bit worried as they all have Windows 8 loaded on them, some nice screen sizes too i must say.
So i will go with a Windows 8 nachine non RT operating system

I currently work at a Laptop repair in Raleigh shop where we service computers down to and including motherboard repairs. I can repair your broken LCD screens, replace inverters, repairs the main board, ect.

I know there are a decent amount of tech savy members on CP.com but no one has offered Laptop repair in Raleigh PM me with the details of your problem and I can get you an estimate on the repair.

thanks!

RT I think is more of a non stable release. Just go right directly to 8.1 as a recommendation.

I hate Windows 8.1, especially with the way they try to force you signing in with a Microsoft account.

The price of sanity - $5 USD - works fine

Hi Alpha, As noted nobody it seems has a good word for windows 8 and PCW world is a crazy place to buy a new comp, if your are looking for something new try "Novatech" excellent online and real time store company, i have one of their laptops still working and its got to be 7-8 years old now (as a spare) plus with them you can load your own software or specify what you want....
