Does BA like Norton
Can someone help me out here. I bought a new laptop notebook HP really great fast machine with Windows 8 installed. When i put BA on all works fine untill the prices start freezing up then the connection on my BT hub becomes disconnected and then says limited access, where my main computer is still working fine. I suspect the Norton Anti virus cant be the software as this worked fine on my last laptop, its like trading on a minefield

Does it happen when you're wirelessly connected or with ethernet cable or both? I generally avoid using wireless for anything as there's too many signals in the house that can interfere and I find it less reliable anyway.
For what it's worth, I stopped using Norton before I even had broadband, the updates were too frequent, and a 3MB update on a dial up connection was taking forever whereas AVG were much faster.
Alternatively try Windows update, there could be a software update for whatever connection method you are using. If that doesn't find anything try Driver Genius software, I think there's a 2 week trial for it, it fixed my laptop fine after I reinstalled Windows and couldn't find the drivers CD.

Norton is shit and a waste of money.
uninstall it and install Microsoft Security Essentials:

I use 'Bull Guard' that my local pc repair shop recommended after having Norton for a few years. I thought why not Norton is getting in the way of things and Bullguard is only £50. Best move I made never had any problems since. Upgrades yearly though which I think should be a little more frequent.
I would try to avoid any 'Internet security' type suites. All you need is an Anti-Virus.
Additional firewall programs analyse each data packet before letting it through. This can slow down your computer dramatically and affect all aspects of performance from boot up time to internet speed.
Unless you visit dodgy websites late at night when the other half has gone to bed you won't need anything other than a solid anti-virus package.

most of the features in these packages can be configured. e.g. with MSE i've turned off the daily scheduled scan (you don't need it) and just run a manual scan every couple of months.
