Out of all the people you know who bet seriously, and out of all the systems you've tested:

Which has the most consistent profitable results - (a) betting in-play, or (b) betting based on the odds (or trend, or other) before the event kicks off?

Pre-off is risk free, apart from your trading ability or lack thereof. Inplay is subject to large variations in profitability but can produce some big pay offs.

You can hedge inplay on secondary markets, but all that does is reduce your over all return ultimately. So inplay is as risky or least risky as you want, but I tend to find I earn more if I don't attempt to hedge.

Euler - When trading football in-play, do you rely on your gut feeling of what's happening in the game to find value, or do you use a purely statistical approach?
