Bayern have a great squad, I'd certainly put them ahead of Utd and probably put Dortmund slightly ahead of Utd based on what we've seen in the six games. Juventus are one striker away from being right up there as well imo.

I just think Utds midfield will get horribly exposed against a fast passing technical side in Europe.

If you ever have a chance to ask a coach who they fear most in the champions league, they will probably say B.D. is one of the top list..
I reckon they'd fear Barcelona and Real Madrid over the third placed team in the Bundesliga...
giulio2010 wrote:My opinion does not take count of 2-3 years ago but only for what I saw in the last 3 months and believe me, despite this B.D. is 3rd in their domestic league, they play some outstanding football....
Playing outstanding football isn't always enough to win tournaments. You also need strength of character, and the fact that BD are third in the Bundesliga tells me that either they are lacking in skill in some respects or that they don't always play with sufficient focus and determination. One thing the critics say about United is that, even when they aren't playing brilliantly, they have a determination that allows them to grind out results week after week.

Consider this - Chelsea and City both have some of the world's best players: guys who are capable of stunning football. Yet they didn't even make it past the group stages...
giulio2010 wrote:Shaktar is the second surprise for this tournament yet...
Man utd, luckily, can't meet B.D. in the next stage, but they can meet Shaktar, Real Madrid or Porto...
Real Madrid would be a tough game, but the CL odds of Porto and Shaktar tell me that we don't have much to worry about - http://sports.betfair.com/football/competition?id=228.

I think United main weakness is at the back - we let in too many silly goals, and I hope that Fergie will buy in some new defenders in January. That said, we've shown in the Premier League this season that we have plenty of goal scoring ability.

This is a clear sign you only watch one game per week and that game is played by Man utd...I may slightly agree with you about Porto but, not at all about shaktar.
Sometimes you write like a journalist, you only pick the lines that are more convenience to you. I said that dortmund is ONE OF coaches top list to fear and my personal first choice at the moment. I also said that from now until february things can change, but you just take into account the fact that B. dortmund, already strong, can not improve....I take into account both scenarios.
You can never give an objectively opinion cause you're completely overshadowed by the love you feel for your team .Fair enough..It's also my fault, I never take into consideration that I have to use different words when speaking to a fan.
I personally think that The premier league is in decline. Last year Chelsea won the champions league, but we must also see how. Even Inter Milan and Ac Milan won it when the serie A was in decline. It 's the second consecutive year that only 2 out of 4 teams qualify ... Your current average is 8.857, the same average of Italy with two teams less and France with one team less in the champions league. Germany traveling at 10,214 with one team less and Spain is traveling at 10,285 with the same number of teams of England .. This is a clear signal, but can I never convince a person, which I think, living in complete denial? In 2013 England will be overtaken by Germany unless, germany loses all three teams in the first round. If that happens England will go from 1st to 3rd in only 2 years.
This does not mean that Man Utd or English teams do not play more champions league final, but means that insted of occur almost every year, it will happen once every 3-4 years. And if that happens money will go elsewhere. It's the football cicle, it happened before and it will happen again. However we need 2 more years to have the confirmation. I hope for you guys I am wrong, in the other hand I hope I am right so billionaires will start invest also elsewhere to give more beauty to this sport...

Caerd must be gutted
Yes, I still am!

We had so many chances it was our best opportunity to beat Barcelona in years. No luck at all, we sent a ball to the post that didn't get in and Celtic sent one to the bar that did come in... That's football.

As a 'bonus' I layed Barcelona on the next match as Messi was going to the hospital and I was being told he could have a couple of months out, but when I woke up this morning he was just doubtful. Crap!

Just hope this 'defeat' will allow the team to concentrate on the championship.

Was thinking in terms of who Utd would like to draw in the knockout stages, probably something in this order?

1 Celtic 2 Valencia 3 Milan 4 Porto 5 Shakhtar 6 Madrid.

I might be doing Celtics home European record a disservice there though.

That may sound crazy for most of you but the home teams still offering some cracking value to lay them!!!!!!!
Celtic have spend so much energy and Valencia need to score 3 times to win and hoping not to conceed!!

Anyone reckon Man U are overpriced at 5.3 to beat Real?

Real probably deserve to be favourites, but intuitively Man U's price seems way too high (although as a Man U fan, I am biased!).
