job cuts

I read that betfair are expected to make cuts of about 600 jobs to save costs. I was pretty surprised they had 2000 staff to be honest. Surely, they dont need that many customer service staff to handle their complaints!
Whatever we think of Betfair's hapless customer service. I would wager that the job cuts will not be the clowns that make the decisions that effect us. It will be the guys who have to clean up the mess, the ones that have to apologise for others mistakes.
How many of the top managers will be going?
Are all the cuts in the UK? Is this because they have moved much of their business overseas to avoid paying tax in the UK?
Betfair's decline has been coming for a while now. They have abandoned their founding principles and innovative ideas and repositioned themselves into mainstream betting industry.
The scariest thing is we are now pinning our hopes on Ladbrokes. This isn't going to end well my friends.
I have sympathy for anyone who loses their job. In 99% of cases it isn't their fault.

I think the article suggested some of the jobs were from their overseas operations due to bf closing in some countries and others will be lost from marketing. This seems a little daft when if they are rebranding as a bookie as you would think they would need to be going hard at the marketing.
Here is the article I read by the way

Here is the blog post I made: -

650 would indicate its across the board. But it seems very difficult to get any information out of Betfair as to what is happening ATM.

Maybe management are subscribing to the classic school of mushroom management?
From the urban dictionary:
A management philosophy prescribing to the theory that to best motivate your employees, you must at all times:
1. Keep them in the dark.
2. Feed them full of shit.
This form of management applies to every situation where management is involved. Be it passing on critical information to employees, or informing people of policy change and company announcements. The entire purpose is to be as vague and unresponsive as possible. The ultimate culmination and success of this management style can be found when people draw comparisons to management and a black hole. Where resources and information go in and nothing comes out.

If Betfair is like some of the large organisations I've worked in, it will have highly paid staff with fancy titles like 'change management implementation strategy co-ordinator' who contribute feck all, and hard working staff who are on a pittance and get treated like doormats...
