I have to admit that after watching the favourite Broadway Buffalo drop in price by 5-6 ticks after 20 boring minutes of total stagnation when there was over $200,000(AU) laying and $38,000 backing, I am stuffed if I know whats going on any more.

All I could detect that could have held Broadway Buffalo back was a measly $1000 being backed and laid on The second fav Whenindoubtdoit. As far as money was concerned, Broadway Buffalo which got to a huge high of $1.17 in play WAS the race.

So much for thinking I was starting to understand racing markets after a year of trading. Can anyone suggest any good literature on the underlying mechanics of sports markets? :?

Short prices tend to attract a lot of money and tend to be backed in.

It was the best horse in a poor race. It was 3 times the price of what BC usually is and won just as easy. It went from the front and never saw another horse. It really isn't rocket science. :)
