I was trading on the NBA last night, Denver V Oklahoma, I'd backed Denver at 5.4 pre game and was looking to lay out at 3.0 when they took the lead, this was part matched @ 3.0 then the rest was matched @ 8's, which resulted in a loss. Why was my lay not held until 3's became available again, I had not placed an order in for 8's so why was that price taken. I'm using the free version of Bet Angel and any explanation/help would be appreciated so I don't get stung by the software again.

Regards

It sounds like the initial partially matched bet at 3 was cancelled and another bet submitted. It is impossible for a LAY bet asking for 3.0 to be matched at 8.0.

Check the log. You can find your previous log on the hard disk in the Bet Angel installation directory.

Thanks for your answer but I have no log in my installation directory, I'm using the free version.

I placed the order via the make market button, cancelling the back and changing the stake and odds on the lay, do you think this could explain what happened?

When you say 'Free' version do you mean Bet Angel Basic? Or the free trial of Bet Angel Professional?

If you adjusted the bet then this could be what caused the issue. But you would have had to adjust the price requested to a value greater than 8. It is possible you hit the wrong button I suppose.

Yeah, sorry its Bet Angel Basic, i'm going to upgrade to the Pro trial version today. I did adjust the bet but I definitely didn't adjust the price to above 8.
It's a mystery I guess, I'm just a bit pee'd off that I'd done my research found a good bet and still managed to lose.

In that case, Bet Angel would not request a price at this level either.

Something else is the explanation. The software won't ask for a larger LAY price than you requested and the exchange will not match at a larger LAY price than you requested (although it will match at a lower LAY price if available).

Check with Betfair. Give them the bet reference number from your account statement and ask them to investigate why you got a bigger price than you asked.
