Why did this happen? Does anyone know?

In some countries it could be to cover excess costs from the authority e.g. licence and taxesCaerMyrddin wrote:Why did this happen? Does anyone know?
Or it could be a simple case of pure greed.
You can decide yourself but I know which option I put my money, sorry, commission payment on! 1.01 on Greed!!
Increase your prices when your biggest competitor is gaining on you quickly? Seems like suicide to me. So fits Betfair's profile nicely.Euler wrote:Not aware of any legislation changes in those countries so I am assuming Betfair are testing the water for prices increases?
Or could it be a general hike in commission and scrap the PC?
I think it's fairer that everyone pay not just successful players

The thread will fill up now with people with great ideas like...
"I would happily pay 10% commission if no PC"
" I would happily let any of the Betfair's executive team sleep with my wife and 18 year old daughter if I didn't have to pay PC"
" I would happily pay 10% commission, 60% PC and let any Betfair employee fuck me up the arse. I don't want anything in return...."
You get the picture
It's like watching a car crash in slow motion, knowing all the time you know how to stop it. Any idea about their new api, so I can send flowers for the funeral.Euler wrote:I think they are in trouble TBH. I can see Betdaq coming up fast and underlying liquidity on Betfair falling as they stick there nose deeper in the trough.
I suspect Mugs idea of increasing commission to replace PC, is not a million miles away from BF's thoughts
They have a new problem, something they haven't really had......it's called competition!
With a new dominant male on the prowl, they can either stand up & fight, or let that male takeover, I suspect they will fight
PC goes against the principles of being competitive, so whilst removing PC may seem like wishful thinking, they would be mad not to have discussed it at board level

I have heard that from May 1st Betafir customers can receive reduced commission rates based on the number of positive comments they make about the company on forums.
I think this is yet another great idea from an innovative organization which has proved itself to be a market leader and the natural choice for exchange users around the world.

Surely we'd be better off feeding bananas to the chimpanzees on the in play and suspended buttons? I mean what better thing than to feed your valuable staff free food?sweetybt wrote:I have heard that from May 1st Betafir customers can receive reduced commission rates based on the number of positive comments they make about the company on forums.

Just finished listening the Betfair results presentation and these changes in commision rates are indeed a test of the market. When questioned aftewards Breon stated that they had tested pricng in five countries. Rasied prices in four countries and lowered in one.
They were doing it because of the lack of impact on Austrailian pricing. Just like the PC if they do the first implementation and if there is no change behaviour up go the prices.
