separate numerator from denominator

does anyone have any idea how to separate the numerator from the denominator in excel ie,

5/4 in cell a1.

i need a method/formula the split the 5 away and put in cell b1, and likewise split the 4 away and place in cell c1.

tried a goggle search but useless.

If you use the find command you can then use string handling to seperate the component parts.
