PS I think this could end up being like one of those horse races where a horse swoops in from 1000.0 in the dying breaths of the race to claim victory...

It wouldn't surprise me if Man U are conducting secret negotiations with someone who's emphatically declaring his loyalty to his current club.

Champions League is so important to these big clubs too. Moyes has very little experience in Europe, I would expect that to go against him

This is a massive issue IMHO. The other thing is who is picking the manager? If it's the American owners it could be anyone.

You would expect them to go down the Anceloti, Huddink, Capello type candidate route.

I'd like to see Howard Webb get the job. He deserves it for all the help he has given to Utd over the years.

FIFA just accidentally tweeted that Moyes has been appointed. Tweet was gone a few minutes later. Still available at 1.04 to back.

Cant even get on now, below 1.01 after Everton say that Moyes is leaving the club and want to go to Utd. They didnt say that he has actually signed for Utd though

Not impressed that I lost £16 laying Moyes

However, I am impressed that they've given him a 6 year contract. Replacing Fergie is a monumental task, 6 years shows he will be given time to implement his own ideas, and that they see him as another long haul manager

I personally think its daft giving any footy manager unless its fergie a 6 year contract. its not as though after two years he is going to start saying he wants to go to a bigger club. I think they have shown their confidence by offering the job already. Who knows what will happen in two months. look at henningburg, cost blackburn 2-3 million quid for 2 months. Big sam had about 5 mil off newcastle to name a couple.

Hope it does work out and he does his 6 years and turns them into a big club like everton!

Moyes has a tough task ahead..Fergusson has taken Man utd of the beggining of the rise of english clubs in europe...Moyes is taken Man utd at the beggining of the decline of english clubs....
Well, good luck Moyes...
P.S. whats the point to hire a big name when you know Man utd will rise again in 10-15 years from now?

Betfair's oldest market has now finally been settled,
never thought i would see the day :D

I think Moyes is a good appointment myself,
Fergie will no doubt be in background pulling the strings for years to come yet and im sure in time Moyes will be molded into a decent successor.
