Hi all i just got a new monitor to run of my laptop 23,6 Samsung but BA just isn't working ( not refreshing no market depth in fact no nothing ) I then put my old 19 monitor in again and it works no problem again. I'm not very tech minded, the last one just plugged in and worked. I really hope it's something simple but iv'e been at it for the last three hours....
Thanks in advance....
New Monitor
hi small fry. Just thought that your lap top may not be recognising the new monitor so, try this.....click on
Start
then Control Panel
then Hardware ans Sound
then Connect to an external display
Here you can make sure your lap top recognises the new monitor. If it shows the old one, then just replace it with the new one.

There are things that can go wrong when connecting a monitor to a laptop so you need to check a few things.
1. What type of cable are you using to connect? Is HDMI out from your laptop or are you using the D-Sub?
2. Does your new monitor have dual inputs? Most modern screens have D-SUB and DVI so you need to check which one is the default? Some also have HDMI so check that. IMPORTANT: Modern monitors may have multiple inputs but they can be pretty dumb when it comes to displaying the one you want. You may have to select the input manually so check your user manual. If the DVI is the default input and you are using D-Sub then you will see nothing. This can happen on other inputs if you are not connecting to the default
3. Have you set-up both your laptop and windows to use the new monitor? Some older laptops have a function key that selects an external monitor. For example Fn + F4 is a common combo on laptops to initialise an external monitor so check that. If the monitor is connected you may have to inform Windows it is connected and you want to use it. Here is the easy way
Right Click on the screen and select Personalise (sorry, I think this is Win 7 & 8) this will take you to the monitor options and you should see your laptop and external monitor. In XP I think it may be Properties? When you get to the option you need to select "Extend" which will activate both monitors. You can then setup the resolution and refresh.
If you can tell me the Laptop make/model and your OS I can give more exact advice.

Aha!! Okay so I reckon you have the market overview open on the second screen? I think if you shutdown that element of BA it will start to refresh and work okay.Jollygreen my monitor is a Samsung S24B300HL and my laptop is a Toshiba satellite L450D-113..
Let me know if that's the culprit?

I'm confused with this one.
Do you have a problem with the monitor or with Bet Angel?
If everything is displaying on your new monitor it would seem to indicate the monitor is working. Do you have the desktop replicated on the monitor or have you extended the desktop?
JG mentions the Market Overview screen. You have not mentioned this so far. Is this the feature you are having trouble with?
Does the software update again if you disconnect the monitor? Does the software update OK if you display it on the laptop screen but stops updating if you drag it to the new monitor?

Only in sorry for the confusion
Just tried it again and it works with my old set up of BA on the laptop with the ladder on the monitor but when i put everything on the monitor it stop's working. The idea of getting the bigger monitor was so i could put everything on the monitor and have the laptop for other things, live video, prices etc.

Going to sound stupid here but i just noticed that when it wasn't working the R numbers at the bottom of BA are very high when its not working 140/202 i just can't remember what you call them. Going to try and find out through the user manual...
Cheers again everyone...
