Another myth dispelled!!

One of the things I hate when I listed to errr...."experts" on TV is the choice of the stable jockey. You always here "well this is the stable number one as jockey XXXXX has chosen him and he would know more than most"

So today when Joseph O'Brien chose Battle of Marengo I knew the price would be shorter than it should be. The saying would be doing the rounds "Joseph chose this one so it must be the best one!"

Well you can see today with the finest 3 year olds at his disposal he still chose the wrong one. Now, I am NOT having a pop at Joseph O'Brien because he can only make a choice based on what he does know. What I am saying is never listen to the "experts" who say the stable jockey chooses the best horse, it is utter guff, something they are very good at.

They are now running the replay and suddenly Statler and Waldorf are giving brilliant advice on which horse to choose...the usual aftertiming that's about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike!!

I use a saying that was plagiarised from Shakespeare

Do top jockeys like McCoy not have some say in which horse they ride?

That's not a rhetorical question; I just would have thought that, when a jockey reaches the top of their profession, they would have some say in which horses they ride.

Yes Jeff of course he does. There are plenty of times when he chooses one runner and the other stable horse wins. Basically if all you had to do was follow the choice of the stable/top jockey then we'd all be rich.

Sadly when you are constantly unwell and can only watch the TV it makes it more obvious just how useless these "experts" are. Oh well an 8/1 winner against an 11/8 favourite with stamina doubts makes it sweeter!!
