Was reading Junes Economia and came across this article about the greatest upsets from the pre betfair era which must have had the layers smiling.

I Remember Joe Johnson and Buster Douglas and had heard of the 1950 World Cup game but the other three were news to me.

Now I just have to find the next time a 1.01 shot gets turned over!

Interesting to see 1986 Davis vs Johnson on there. Davis was absolutely dominant in those days, so 1985 would have been even better, albeit 'in play' - Steve Davis vs Dennis Taylor & Davis was 8-0 up after Session 1. I'm sure if BF had been around, there would have been huge amounts traded at 1.01

1973 (I think) Leeds v Sunderland. Sunderland were 13/2 and I bet £2. Won 1-0, winnings kept me in beer for a month.

I'm sure North Korea vs Italy 1966 World Cup, Non League Sutton Utd vs FA Cup Holders Coventry City 1988, Peter Doohan vs Boris Becker 1987 Wimbledon, would all be good examples to add

LeTiss, how you could miss Saints vs Man Utd 1976.

European footballer of the year Keegan to join Saints would have been unbelievable odds also.

Going back before most traders were born, 1967 Grand National: Foinavon winning at 100/1. Look it up on youtube.

All upsets show trading is sometimes a victim of circumstance. Research and statistics be blowed.

Unforseen stuff happens. :D
