Not really a Chill Out topic as it is making me

Does anyone else use Hotmail/the new Outlook Hotmail - Hotmail and had similar experiences to me?

It used to work great but ever since the switch to Outlook it has been dire taking ages to load and often failing when attaching documents etc.

Just wondering if it was just me :?:

Yes it's absolutely rubbish! Sometimes I'm trying to load emails and it claims they aren't there, or says it's still loading files when I can access them easily through my iPhone right away.

I thought it was just me, drives me mental trying to send a few quick emails before heading out the door!

There has been a huge number of complaints to microsoft - and a mass exodus to Gmail.

If you migrate to Gmail, you can still use your Hotmail account as normal, by setting it up as a POP3/SMTP account from within Gmail. You get the benefits of not having to switch email address, and also the use of Gmail's UI. The only disadvantage is that new emails you receive won't appear instantly - you'll need to click the "refresh" button, or wait until the next automatic refresh interval.

You should also be able to import all of your historic Hotmail emails straight into Gmail. This might require a change at Hotmail's end to allow the transfer of all emails via POP3, as opposed to just new ones (I've not used Hotmail in over ten years, but that's how Gmail works). I believe you will however lose your Hotmail folder hierarchy!

That would be a real pain but thanks for all the info.

I got a couple of tweets from Outlook yesterday saying they had a bug that was causing the problems and they were fixing it but didn't have a time scale on the fix.

It does seem better today for me.

Gmail for me is so much better. I love their Gmail drive to store and access, important files from anywhere, YouTube login through Gmail, all contacts synced with my phone so when I have my annual lost phone in a taxi the new one just imports it straight in ++++ I imported all my hotmail and all my outlook emails into Gmail with keeping the folder structure. It took a while to do but I find it much better all round.
