Slightly bored with the racing today, so thought I'd kick of a 'meaning of liff' thread on race course names.

Yarmouth

Yarmouth is a oral disease that causes the jaw to drop when a short priced favourite is beaten at the races. Newton Abbot is an effective cure, but chasing is the most used cure for Yarmouth.

Bath (a.k.a blood-bath)

Bloodbath takes place in erratic market conditions with showers of spikes, and gambles. Most traders undergo it at least once a week. It is not refreshing, nor cleansing.

Tipperary (a.k.a. Trip-er-ary)

A stumble that may result in loss from cutting out too soon, or stepping in too late. Be wary and watch your stake in this weak Irish market to prevent injury.

Musselburgh

Caused by a mind-controlling parasite that resides inside mussels at the wrong time of year. Sufferers typically feel the need to flex their 'mussels' by dropping bombs on various Betfair markets and adopt and anti-value approach. Thus the victim slowly runs out of money, before the parasite, now fully grown erupts from it's now-deceased human host and starts a career in pop music.

Galway

You just decided to leave a big profit on a selection and not green up / cash out. Galway is the feeling you get when you see your selection beaten in the dying seconds.
