Hi, I put his on Betfair and wondered if anyone has views or info

Sorry if this has been discussed before but...
Does anyone know the time delay on the ATR pictures for US Racing. More often than not the market is supended as the gates open on the TV, but how much delay is there really between what we see on ATR in the UK and what US viewers see on their TVs or at the track.
I have traded hundreds and hundreds of races over the last year and it seems to me that recently a lot of money is being matched in the final second before suspension suggesting on track punters or perhaps US TV viewers are backing horses that break well from the gates just before the market is suspended.
Any views?

Around 6-8 seconds imo

you can't leave it too late to wager...you will not get on.
i usually wager just before they go behind the stalls.

6-8 seconds is this true? That means half a furlong, so for a 5f race on dirt track with a short home straight like Tampa the race is already over for most of the field.

ur not aloud to bet from America

I know that but where there's an edge there's a way proxy servers, hidden ip addresses ETC

Yes.Its about 8 seconds as online is only afew seconds behind usa atr whcih it shouldnt be.So about 8 seconds and those usa behind proxy addresses etc have a super massive advantage. So dont bet too late is my advice.

thanks, I have had an awful start to 2010 after a solid 2009 and I am sure it is in part due to trading too close to the off and my position being hoovered up.

Unless it has changed in the last year (which it may have done) the time difference was non existent, at most a second.
I trialled it with friends in America, which I can do again if you want? Not sure when I will be able to do it exactly if you do want me to.
But I personally think that nothing has changed like that on the US markets, the markets themselves have changed massively in the last year and change by the week if not day.

I remember posting on your blog about the US racing a few months back.
The markets seemed different in early January when there was little UK racing and extra US interest. Now there seems extra big spikes very close to the off.
Also
I have two sky boxes in my house, the pictures on my trading TV are about 1/2 a second faster than the other. No idea why.

Be thankful the trading tv is quicker
Are they different boxes ? On HD ? could just be something as simple as that as the signal needs decoding by the box before it plays back so avoid Channel 4 HD if you're trading might look better but will be slower

ok. I Had a look at US markets over xmas for about a month. But probably only actually traded 12 days or something in that month and I noticed this happening but to a ridiculous extent. eg on more than one occassion a few k, (which is a lot for a US market) would b matched at once and sometimes at a lot lower than the market price. eg the fav may be trading at 2.5 and someone backed it at 2, then the price would come back out again.
I stopped looking at these markets a few weeks ago because I didn't see this happening for a few days and got very bored just looking at them and waiting to see if it happened again.
Like you guys my only thought was someone in the US on course doing this. I assumed they were just on the phone to someone in the UK and would get them to place the bet thus getting around US gambling laws. As I say I didn't see this happen and quickly got bored, but does anyone who trades US races all the time know if this is a common thing? Or was this just some guy over xmas who didn't get how BF worked and therefore was placing bets at was below the odds he could have got for them. This seems very unlikely considering how much money they were placing!!!!!!!

Just tested the TVs and it is only ITV which is 1 second slower on a pace box than a sky + box.
Regarding US racing the Betfair market can be bigger than the win pool, so it could be that a big punt on a horse in the pools at 2.5 could send it odds on.
