Here's a snapshot of the Australian Federal Election 2013.

Market's decisive on Tony Abbot with 2 days to go before the announcement.

For non Aussies this is a useful guide to the elections: -

My main lament is it seems the individual seats do not go "in play" during the count itself. Was half thinking about some in play trading while listening to Antony Green talk about matched booths analysis. My understanding is the market is suspended at the start of polling day.

There will be some in play markets it seems.

I'll keep an eye on the market tomorrow and record the closing snapshot.

Out of curiosity, are there any traders in Aus Stock Market on this forum.

I want to get a price check of all (or leading) listed companies in O&G sector, & Mining sector.
Can anybody recommend where I might be able to pull the stock price of all companies in these sectors?

I tried asx.com.au but no luck. ADVFN_AU doesn't offer free delayed data either. Doing it manually via yahoo/google finance will take ages.

BF market seems too optimistic on Tony Abbot, and his big trump card is elimination of Carbon Tax and scraping Mining Tax.

Judging by these facts and market sentiments, I want to check if the stock price of leading O&G, and Mining companies will sore during the weekend and open with big spike on Monday's opening bell should Tony Abbot win the election.

The 'Next Elected Prime Minister' market was suspended this morning. Volume = $515,926

The other markets are still open right now while voters are still casting their votes.

There's a gap in the market for 'Coalition' trading 1.02 and 1.05. Money looks thin on the 'Back' side.
I can definitely see an opportunity to get involved (infact I clicked a few times), but restricted to trade in-play for Aussies.

Coalition wins and Tony Abbot is our new PM.

The 'Federal Election - 2013 Federal Election' market traded 5mil in volume.

The election had no visible effect on the grp races at Flemington today (it was just one of my crazy thoughts :))

Also, couldn't see any effect on stock price of mining companies. Perhaps the market had already factored that in.

Either-ways, shows how little I know about the real markets :P
