Show me a manager who hasn't made what look like mistakes with the benefit of 50/50 hindsight, and I'll show you a manager who's achieved nothing.

Even SAF has once been sacked - ditto Brian Clough - so he's in good company...

Moyes has come out and said that he wouldn't have put Rooney in the starting 11 this evening, even if he were available!

Perhaps Moyes should stop speaking to the press if he can't open his mouth without negging out his players!

All the above and all likely comments in the future make for a very interesting PL season.... Groovy 8-)

I think the question should be whether Moyes himself has the class to win the Champions League :?:

Quite.

Perhaps some managers have a scrappy, negative style of play that makes them well suited to a mid-table team, but not a great fit at clubs which are capable of a more elegant style of football.

Moyes has certainly sorted out the defence today. I've just watched the first 35 mins of the stoke game and the keepers had a blinder! times like this I wish I was a city fan.

It's a game of two halves - United have won from being 1-2 behind on countless occasions (albeit under a different manager)...

I wonder how many draws and losses the United directors will tolerate before they decide that Moyes is the wrong man for the job.

For him to manage United is possibly a bit like someone like Sam Allardyce managing Real Madrid or Barcelona - the defensive, scrappy tactics that might work for a mid division team could prove woefully inadequate for one of the world's best sides.

Drifted out to 23's on the premiership to win market.

That's a low blow about Sam the man. You saying Bolton aren't on a par with real Madrid?

I don't think it will come down to the utd directors to be honest in regards to moyes. I think it will come down to Tagert making the call himself, as he chose him. I can't see him telling them to get rid within the first 18 months. At least I hope so!

I suspect there could be some value at that price, as I imagine that the market may have over-reacted to certain events as more and more people think that Moyes is the real life equivalent of Mike Bassett...

Who would replace Moyes though? Fergie can't be expected to return so quickly, the guy is in his 70s and needs a break! No one else who I can think of is available now, so booting Moyes out will just mean writing this season off!
