It has turned into an interesting thread. I would recommend to really understand these positions you just have to get stuck in like a maniac with small trades to feel how even the smallest of trades can change a direction of a market. Jump on their bigger positions at 4 and 4.2 and then jump in the middle at 4.1 and see how quick the money suddenly matches. Be ready to scratch and change direction until you know they have nibbled away enough of their own money at 4s and 4.2 to leave you in a good position. I do this quite often with small trades and would imagine like Peter I put through in excess of 100 trades per race if I play. By doing this you really get a real feel of what they do for little risk.

I would suggest Horses are more difficult to scalp than other sports, but not impossible

I predominately scalp, as my main diet of activity is on Tennis, football etc where I can confidently throw thousands on a player at 1.39, knowing that they are going to hit 1.36 within the next 60mins. I also do dutching and bookmaking, but very rarely do swing trades, as sports don't move as fast as horses

This may explain my failure to make horses work for me. The only races I trade, are big races where EP activity means I can take a position knowing that 5 ticks won't be blown away in 2mins. I also trade 3 horse races, or races where the favourite is heavy odds on, as I find these easier to read

In that regard, my trading knowledge is very limited compared to Peter Webb and others on here. However, it also shows that any of us can make this trading game work if we know what we are good at, and just avoid the areas that we struggle with

Switesh...this is a great post, amazing how you got all that data together, and i am going to spend some time looking at your charts and explanations and trying to think them through. I had a look at the charts and noticed something which may be of use to others if they didn;t spot it aswell...at the top left of each chart there is a number which represents the time to the start, starting at 1 min going down to 0 min from the top left chart to the bottom right.

Your explanations refer to this number.
