I've noticed a subtle shift on Betdaq, anybody else?

On all markets Peter, or just Racing?

I'm quite surprised that during recent changes, I haven't received a single email from Ladbrokes about the exchange. I have a ladbrokes account, but rarely use it, so I should be a prime target to be enticed back, but I've heard nothing

letiss I don;t think they are actually offically launched it yet?? They have only soft launched it making sure everything works. Once it has been fully tested I imagine they will make a big song and dance.

peter.......don;t leave us hanging!!! Come on...what are you seeing!!!

I am only putting bits and bobs through but I seem to be getting lots of smaller stake round turns through really easily. Some that I don;t get counter filled on betfair nip back and fill on betdaq nicely though.

On horse racing i have noticed a tighter spread on a number of races in play which may offer a few opportunities for anyone looking for arbs between the exchanges.

They need to sort their football markets out. I would imagine this is where their customer's are most likely to be looking or attracted to at least initially. So few games that they offer, its off putting to even bother.

I'm sort of waiting for them to fill Betdaq with pricing from Ladbrokes. I think that would spark a lot of activity. If you do that then it would be possible to trade by tightening the spread, I would think that would work.

Re: My post above

It just 'feels' to me on the racing markets that liquidity is a bit firmer. I have a strategy that no longer works on Betfair but I switched it on Betdaq and it's working, which is curious. I'm getting something out of it each day. It wouldn't need to grow much for it to make a decent contribution to things.

Peter et al, going back to Jimrobo's initial post on the thread - could someone such as yourself not set up a spreadsheet that would give an automatic and direct comparison as I laid out in my posts?

Then rather than people giving their 'feel' for things there would be stats to show the reality.

It's tricky because Betdaq don't display the volume correctly. You could accurately cross compare but they don't supply volume data at a specific price, so it's always a bit of a guess.

Actually I see what you are saying, multiply up the Betfair numbers.

Yup this is how I used to do it:

A) Betfair calculate total amount matched as Backers Stake + Layers Stake so a £5,000 bet at 4.0 is recorded on Betfair as £10,000 total matched

B) On Betdaq the total amount matched is calculated as Backers Stake x The Odds so a £5,000 bet at 4.0 is recorded on Betdaq as £15,000 total matched

It may be different from when I used to be trading on BF but this is how I used to do it from memory:

1. At the off record the amounts matched against each price for each selection on Betfair into Excel
2. Divide the amounts matched by 2 so £10,000 matched becomes £5,000
3. Take 1 off each price so 4.0 becomes 3.0
4. Multiply the halved amounts matched by the prices they were matched at with 1 taken off eg. £5,000 x 3.0 = £15,000
5. Add them all up for each selection
6. You now have the total amount matched on a market on Betfair displayed in the same format as Betdaq give for their total amount matched on a market.
7. A direct comparison is now possible between Betfair and Betdaq

I am sure some Spreadsheet whizz could knock this up in a few minutes and set it running in the background giving a print out at the end of each day.

I don't know if you can get the amounts matched per selection on Betdaq, either in total or against each price? If you can you could do a direct comparison on a per selection level as well. And/Or reverse the above process and turn Betdaq amounts into Betfair amounts.

I thought Ladbrokes figure for total matched on the market was displayed in the Betfair format? When I looked it was different to how it is displayed on Betdaq :?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that would be straightforward for some of the Excel experts on here

I didn't realise though that Ladbrokes & Betdaq were operating different ways of recording liquidity? That would be a huge mistake, as competing with BF requires liquidity figures to be clear and understandable to everyone

Aren't scratches treated differently on betdaq as well?

I know its not comparable but 309k showing matched on BD and 260 matched on BF for the 8:15 at dundalk. First time I've seen that figure higher on BD

Something is definitely stirring on Betdaq. I seem to be able to trade good and bad races alike and I am getting very consistent over there.
