I'm tough skinned Jeff! As you will know, I put my honest opinions out there to be challenged. I try to offer reasoning as to why something happens short term.

I agree with your points but I wouldn't lose sleep over who listens to who. There is reasoning in what I have suggested but what works at 0.1 movements may not work the same at say 6s.

Interestingly, the response I learned the most from was Oscar and it wasn't directly about trading at all, more an observation.

Thinking from outside the box. So from that perspective Jeff has a valid point.

Why do you think what Oscar said wasn't about trading? Trading is all about opinions its what causes the moves!

That's why I used the word "indirectly". It is still very much linked to trading.

Oscar pointed out the horse was "keen" from the television pictures. You don't need to be an "experienced" or "active" trader to offer that observation. Whereas an observation about WOM or graph indicators is in my opinion a traders observation.

When I see a trader bearing a white flag, I wonder if he's going to wrap it around my neck!

Does anyone know if switesh made it as a profitable trader or not? His last visit here was nearly two years ago, seems a shame if he didn't as he put in far more work than most people do.

In many cases the more work you put in the greater the rewards. Trading doesn't seem to be that way. One can put thousands of hours into it and still end up losing money, then an Adam Heathcote can come along and make thousands in next to no time. Doesn't seem fair does it?

BTW I'm not having a go at AH here, good luck to him I know he worked very hard too, in order to improve his trading, but it seems its not just about hard work is it.

Thats life in general, some people just have to work harder ay somethings than others to achive the same goal. This starts at school am sure we all remember someone who spent every hour revising but still still failed to get the same grades as someone else who revised just a fraction of the time but was instead just naturally gifted at that subject.

The same pattern is repeated through life some will just take to certain things much quicker and easier than others and trading is no different so some will no doubt have to work a lot harder to reach those same goals.

All anyone can be expected to do is work as best they can and hopefully they will be rewared overtime.

As far as i know Switish stopped a few years ago before ever making it full time but i could be wrong.

Out of interest Dallas, what's your experience in the markets & for what length of time have you been trading, what did you find hard about trading?, what I find hard is interpreting races and whether to enter a trade or not..

Forexample I don't know how to fathom out favourites at say 1.8, so I'll stay clear of those for now and watch, and watch and watch those markets 'til it makes sense,

Not trading today, had a real bad week & confidence is low, going back to it Wednesday

Thanks for the reply Dallas what you say makes a lot of sense.

@ Korattt, I hope this week works out better than last for you. You have to respect the guys that do this full time for a living, and don't have other income to fall back on if they have losing weeks or even months. I think it must take a very special type of mind set to cope with that stress level.

When you looked over your trades Korattt did you notice that you did anything differently to pervious good weeks you had achieved. Or was it that the markets were just very difficult to trade last week.

I think PW posted recently that this time of the year, markets can be quite difficult (flat season coming to an end and jump racing increasing).

Hopefully when things settle down again, you will get back to winning ways.

I first come across trading back in 2009 (cant even rememeber how) but did nt take it serioustly and only done it on and off for a short period of time, I started properly around 2011/2012 but unlike most i did nt come from a gambling/matched betting background or via the lure of YT vids i was in a fortunate poisition where my other buisnesses/interests where comfortably supporting me and had reached a point that none required a daily hands on input from me so started trading just as a way to pass the time (although i did do the obligatory bookie bonuses etc to build a betting bank up :) ) and everything has just progressed from their.

My prefered area has always been pre-race and looking for longer term swing trades especially in the uncompetitive races with a short priced fav, thats just my personal preference and something i found through trial and error over the years.

Hi Korattt

I'm not sure if you do this but it's useful to record the races that are of interest to you.

Today, there are 4 races that fit my criteria but as I'm not 100% fresh for trading, I just open the market in Bet Angel and use a recording programme to record the ladders - that way I can watch it back, rewind it, pause etc etc.

Hope you have a better result next week.

What software package do you use to record the ladders iambic, this is probably something I am going to look into doing. I have heard that Camtasia is very good, I think they do a free version. Being a cheap stake I would rather not pay for recording software if the free versions are perfectly adequate for my purposes.

Hi Bluesky

Like you, I'm a cheapskate!

I used a programme called Active Presenter by Atomi Systems - I won't provide a link because I'm not sure if that's against any forum rules.

Very happy with it; no maximum recording time and best of all, free!

Hope that helps.
